Blak Emoji

Kelsey Warren is a NYC-based recording artist, producer, composer and musician who creates music under the moniker Blak Emoji. Whether it’s producing, songwriting or remixing for a variety of independent artists or creating his own material, there’s a sonic blend of many styles ranging from electronic to pop, alternative, industrial and alt-r&b.

Blak Emoji began at the start of 2016 when Warren performed an impromptu solo acoustic show in Budapest. Afterwards, several Emoji singles were released, and in 2017 his debut ep, INTRO dropped with critical acclaim from a wide range of press: Afropunk, The Line Of Best Fit, BUST Magazine, and Vampire Freaks. The singles “Velvet Ropes & Dive Bars” and “Poison To Medicine” were licensed to the ABC television series Quantico starring Priyanka Chopra. This began a run of licensing to various shows on CBS, BET and MTV.

Three Blak Emoji albums were released including the electro-alternative favorite Eclectro and the electronic instrumental album Antidote. From the strength of these two albums, Blak Emoji signed a publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing. Through his love of sound design, Warren began scoring independent films, inspired by innovative movie composers such as Trent Reznor, RZA, Flying Lotus and Danny Elfman. Tape Op, the magazine for producers, engineers and sound designers featured Blak Emoji for his eclectic production skills and songwriting.

Warren, a member of the Recording Academy, recently launched his new independent label, Future Vintage distributed by The Syndicate. Blak Emoji as a four-piece live band, has supported Solange, Fantastic Negrito, Blk Odyssy, Dorothy and Justina Valentine to name a few artists.

Presently, Warren is working on the new Blak Emoji album for 2025 and producing other artists.
